Members of the Department
Mrs. Joy Bromfield has been a member of the department for over twenty years. She trained in Jamaica and in addition to her Science teaching duties has held the post of Head of Mercury house for a number of years.
Mr. Steven Burrows has been with the department for over eight years. He trained in the UK and joined our staff after working in Britain for a number of years.
Mr. Stephen Clark has been with us for over eight years. Mr. Clark has specialised in the teaching of Science to those students with special needs and for a number of years has held the post of Head of Learning Support (Mathematics & Science).
Mrs. Maureen Hewitt has been a member of the Science department for over fourteen years. After her training in the UK, she taught in schools in England and Jamaica before moving to the Cayman Islands.
Ms Victoria MacPherson has been with us for over two years. She acquired experience in the aeronautical industry as well as in teaching in the UK before joining us.
Mrs. Jasmin Manoosingh has been with the Science department for over five years after teaching in another department at this school and Savannah Primary School. She has undergone training in Trinidad and the United States.
Mr. Malcolm Saunders trained in the UK and taught in Jamaica before he began his Cayman Islands service on Cayman Brac in 1977. He has been the Head of the Department since he moved to Grand Cayman twenty-two years ago.
Mrs. Sharon Wilson has been a member of the department for over three years. She trained in Jamaica and taught there before moving to the Cayman Islands.
Mr. Brad Taylor teaches Science to a Year Seven Class and Mr. Norris Martin teaches two Science classes in addition to the teaching of his main subject, Mathematics.
Mr. Indarjit Lal is our Laboratory Assistant, received job training in Trinidad. He has been our technician and keeper of our inventory for over two years.
Science Syllabus
The Science Department is currently reviewing our curriculum and re-writing Schemes of Work for all three years. What follows is the sequence of topics taught up to this year. There will be changes to this arrangement this year, as yet to be determined in detail. The texts that we use are ‘New Understanding Science’ Books one, two and three.

Extra-Curricular Provision
Currently, the Science department have two extra-curricular clubs available for students. The Science Club is run by Ms MacPherson and they meet on Wednesdays after school. Additionally, Mrs. Manoosingh (aided by her husband, Mr. Ralph Manoosingh, host a Agricultural Science club on Wednesday afternoons.
Each year the Science department has participated in the Schools Science Exhibition, held in the Spring Term.
