The Math Club

The Math Club meets every Tuesday afternoon to discuss and prepare the Mathematics department contribution to the GHHS quincentennial celebration.

Mathematics Assistance Programme

Mathematics Tutoring - Tutor: Mr. K. Laing

This tutoring takes place at Monday lunchtime in Room 231.

Assistance with Mathematics Homework
Teachers: A. Gibson & A. Hernandez

Every Tuesday students can obtain help with Mathematics homework in Rooms 234 and Room 236.

Preparation for Key Stage 3
Teachers: M. Allom & A. Hernandez

On Wednesdays and Fridays at lunchtime, in Room 243, M. Allom reviews mathematics topics with year nine students from the upper sets. Ms. Hernandez has similar review sessions, during the second and third terms, for her class and other interested students.

These sessions are held in Room 236.

General Assistance

Students, experiencing problems with concepts in a topic, may ask their Mathematics Teacher for help. The teacher will arrange a convenient time to assist them.

Mathematics Competitions

Mathematics Roundabout

Every year the Mathematics Department hosts an Inter-House Heritage Day Quiz. This fast pace quiz is reminiscent of a mathematics quiz that could have taken place in a Caymanian school of yesteryear.  Teams of seven students vie for the Eric Spooner Trophy donated by the Barbados Overseas Association.  The competition is normally one of the school's Heritage Day activities.

National Mathematics Roundabout

Students from GHHS compete annually in the National Mathematics Roundabout. In this competition teams of three students prepare answers to challenging math questions. Students may be awarded medals based on their scores.

 Mathematics Fair

The Department of Education hosts an annual Mathematics and Science Fair in February. At least one group of students from GHHS normally exhibits at this fair.
