Aim of course

To introduce students to the different aspects of Information Technology and lay a foundation for its use in everyday life and preparation for examinations. 

General Outline: 

This course is done at the middle school for students in Years 7 to 9. The age group involves students between the ages of 11- 14, coming in from the primary schools throughout the island. 

The students are introduced to the three main applications: word processing, spreadsheets and database. These incorporate the core topics in the course that are covered over the three years. Other topics include Desktop Publishing, Presentations, Webpage Design, Programming. Research skills and typing skills are also incorporated in the course. 

Although the course is essentially practical some non-practical topics are also done: How computer work, input and output devices, use of computer applications, multimedia, storage and memory, networks.
